A letter from Odisha:-
‘These are some random thoughts which crossed my mind, and I
feel it should be talked of.
Before it I would like to share an incident here,
Recently I had been to Delhi my cousin house. I stayed there
and the next day she had to attend a marriage party. As she wanted my company,
I joined with her. So One of her friend picked up us.
In the middle of road he asked me — So you are from Odisha?
Me — Yes , have you visited?
He — No, but I have many Odia friends and I work together.
But their Hindi accents are not clear like yours. You speak fluent Hindi. And
Your English also be fluent I guess.
Me — (I did not say a single word for few minutes, thinking
how can someone generalise this?) No nothing like that, you have not met 45.788
million Odia people there (had to say) . So you are wrong. Yes most of them
can’t but it is not true at all.
He — You are right.
To be honest, it pisses me off when someone generalizes this
fact.
I am proud to being a part of this beautiful Indian state
and will be proud of always.
“A letter for everyone who is not proud to being an
Odia”(Including me if ever I have neglected my state, no offence intended)
Even there are few those who hide their identity as an Odia.
They just can't say proudly that “I am a proud Odia”.
Have you ever wondered what has your motherland given you?
It should have been among the richest states in India.
But it comes under poorest state.
Because of Me, You & We.
Every country has its own pros and cons, Isn’t it?
Before be ashamed to identify yourself as an Odia, remember
what helped you progress in life…..
Think once, what does Odisha have and still why it comes
under poor state category?
And the most important thing — what should be our
responsibility towards it?
